Golf is a major part of The Villages with 9 Country Club Courses (7 of them have 27 holes)and 29 executive courses for a total of 486 holes of golf. The photo along the right is the Glenview Course and Clubhouse. All of the facilities are scattered throughout the community making them easily available to all residents. The Villages is billed as "Florida's Friendliest Hometown" and we probably are. There are numerous activities scattered throughout the The Villages as well as many retail outlets and restaurants scattered around so that everyone in The Villages lives close to some of the conveniences.
More than 20 swimming pools and sports pools are scattered about. Some are for adults only and some are family pools. There are also premium membership country club pools available. Many of the pools are located near rec centers with meeting rooms, pool tables, tennis courts, pickleball courts, horseshoes, boccie, and so much more.
Clubs are constantly being formed for people to share common interests of hobbies such as painting, miniature sail boating on a lake within The Villages, various types of dancing, different College and Universities Alumni Clubs and more. The Villages provides free meeting rooms for the clubs.
The Villages has two polo fields, a wood working shop, our own radio station and a daily newspaper. Many types of cards, bingo and games have standard times at various rec centers for any of The Villages residents who wishes to participate.
Also, The Villages has a total of 9 softball diamonds and many leagues and teams of different skill levels provide ample opportunity to pursue the sport loved by so many. See the photo of a softball field to the right.
The Villages has two town squares; each has live entertainment each evening from 5 PM to 9 PM, a movie complex with 8 screens, many restaurants and unique shopping . We have our own hospital and many more medical facilities. There are numerous strip centers scattered around The Villages so that grocery stores, more restaurants, hardware stores, clothing stores and all sorts of other retail are readily available to everyone. Each of the 9 Country Clubs also have restaurants available to all Villagers. The photos below show an entertainer preparing for the evening entertainment, a scene located on the edge of the Spanish Springs Town Square and The Villages Hospital.
